About Morrane

Welcome to Morrane's website- home of art and fiction inspired by the natural and not so natural world.

Currently selling original works on request- but please keep an eye out, there are several projects on their way, how long they take will mostly depend upon my tenuous grasp of technology.

People often ask me why Morrane? So here goes:
Morrane came into existence one ridiculously long and bleak school day- during geography. I was, of course, doodling rather than studying. All of a sudden this amazing character with an entire weird life of his own appeared on the page before me. Of course a fair amount of the geography lesson was seeping in- hence his name and the tendency to occasionally wear his underpants over his flares and turn into his alter ego: Terminal Morrane.

Morrane has stayed with me from that moment on, albeit in many incarnations. He taught me about plagiarism when a *cough* well intentioned teacher gave my character to another student to 'improve' him without my consent. He came with me to college where I discovered that no superhero would be complete without an arch nemesis; introducing PFB (pink fluffy bunny) a proven hindrance to any plans Morrane might make, and yet the only one who could convince him to put his pants back on.

We went to university to study English literature and fine art together (and dropped out together too.) 300 pictures of a brick wall was his idea of a superb end of year project- it worked, we passed. Which if nothing else proved to me that the course was not for me. Morrane had several really weird incarnations through this period and emerged from the experience relatively unscathed (though my foot still hurts when it rains.)

Some years later and in an effort to escape reality he still keeps my head above water. We have moved to the absolutely stunning Brecon Beacons and together we draw inspiration from the beautiful Welsh countryside and its rich mythology. In the few minutes spare in any day we are working together on our short stories, on illustrations and on paintings; I guess he has too much influence on our work for it to ever be normal. (Many thanks to my mother for being the first person to use the word 'deranged' as a positive criticism.)

I hope you enjoy our work.
